Kath Thomsen has been a member of the St. Timothy Middle School faculty since 2000, but her history with the school and parish goes back further than that. She grew up in West Hartford and attended St. Timothy School for grades 1-7. Her family was fortunate enough to be members of the St. Timothy parish from the start, so Kath has worn many hats as a parishioner, student, parent, and now a teacher. After graduating from the University of Notre Dame (her happy place) with a degree in Modern Languages, she studied the following year at the Sorbonne in Paris through New York University. Upon returning, she taught French at other area schools for eleven years. Eventually Kath returned to St. Timothy Middle School as a French and Language Arts teacher.
While she is an avid Notre Dame sports fan, the key to her happiness is family. Kath grew up in an awesome family with four brothers and two sisters. She still lives in West Hartford with her husband, “HAT," and they have three fabulous children—Meghan, Sarah, and Matt—all graduates of Saint Timothy Middle School. Kath credits her love for teaching to her students at STMS. She truly cares about the personal, intellectual, and spiritual growth of each student, emphasizing, “in my classroom students feel respected, protected, and loved. I push them to do their very best while at the same time laughing and learning with them. As you can see, I have been involved with St. Timothy’s for the majority of my life. It is truly a special community where education and family are at the core of who we are.”
