GAME BY GAME
The boys soccer team opened their season Thursday, September 20th with a 3 - 2 victory over St. Mary of Simsbury. Colin Kuntz scored an unassisted goal in the first half to open the scoring. AJ Massaro scored the next two tiger goals on assists from Brendan Thompson and Brian Butler. Ronnie Poole made several great saves in goal.
On September 25th the boys team played a very exciting game against Windsor Locks. This game had many good passing combinations and displayed a very high level of skill. The Tigers scored first on an unassisted goal by Brendan Thompson. Windsor Locks scored the next three goals to take a 3 to 1 lead. With 11 minutes to go Brendan scored another unassisted goal. The Tigers had a few other chances to score but could not get the tying goal. Brendan and Ryan Coursey had some good combinations on the right side of the field. James Levere had a strong game on defense and AJ played the high balls very well in goal. Windsor Locks out shot St. Timothy 20 to 18.
The boys third game of the season was a dramatic come from behind 3-2 victory over Illing at Illing Friday. Down 2-0 at the half the Tigers roared back in the second half on three goals by AJ Massaro. Assists were by Richie Freckleton and Ryan Coursey. The key to the second half was strong defense that allowed no goals and set up the great Tiger comeback.
It was a damp and windy day for our rematch with Windsor Locks. We scored first on a own goal by Windsor Locks. Windsor Locks scored to make the half time score 1-1. In the second half the tigers played well with excellent communication. Brian Butler scored in the 2nd half to put us up 2-1 but Lock scored the last goal for a 2-2 tie. Ronny Poole play great in goal.
On October 16 the boys played Illing in a game the team was looking forward to playing. Ronny Poole had a great game in goal allowing no goals on 18 Illing shots. The lone Illing goal was scored on a penalty kick. The midfield did an outstanding job passing the ball. Chris Sonberg, Colin Kuntz and Brendan Thompson were key. Richie Freckleton scored to tie the game at one. The game was decided on penalty kicks. Maleek Riley scored for St. Timothy but Illing scored 3 and the tigers lost 3-2.
The next day we played Renbrook.Renbrook is usally an excellent team and this was no exception. Renbrook scored 10 minutes into the game and led 4-0 at the halh. The defense played well in the second half allowing only one more goal for a final scoire of 5-0.
On October 22nd the boys soccer team played a high scoring game against Classical Magnet. St. Timothy outshot Classical 22 to 6 and won by a final score of 6 to 3. AJ Massaro had a goal and 2 assists, Richy Freckleton had 2 goals, and Alexx Dennis also scored twice. The last goal was scored by Maleek Riley. Brendan Thompson had an assist.
On Wednesday the boys soccer team played it's final game of the season against St. Mary of Simsbury winning in dramatic fasion 3-2. It was a cold day. St. Mary is a good team with a lot of talent. St. Mary came out strong and scored right away, but STMS came right back with a great goal by Brian Butler to tie it at 1. A few minutes before the half Chris Sonberg scored to make it 2-1. With a minute to go St. Mary tied it at two. The second half was back and fourth until with less than 6 minutes to go AJ Massaro scored to win the game.

MEET BY MEET
On Wednesday, September 26th the cross country team opened their season in fine fashion. The girls team with Sarah Gillespie pacing the way on our two mile home course. Sarah finished first with a time of 13:52. Kelly Weiss finished third at 15:13, Molly Deneen fourth at 15:20, Taylor Selig sixth at 15:57 and Mary Kate Danaher seventh at 15:58. The girls won by a score of 21 to 61.
The boys showed great strength taking the top four spots. Brian Poirier was first in 12:30, Connor Krikawa second in 13:19 and Will Sullivan fourth in 13:54. Cormac McKenna finished 10th in 15:52 to round out the scoring as the boys team won 20 to 35.
On Friday the Cross Country Team ran against a very strong Illing team. The Tigers lost both meets, the girls by a score of 20 to 38 and the boys by a score of 18 to 57. The top girl's finisher was Sarah Gillespie (2nd overall). Our next four finishers were Kelly Weiss 6th, Taylor Selig 9th, Katherine Schwartz 10th and Mary Kate Danaher 11th. For the boys Brian Poirier was our top runner,4th overall followed by Connor Krikawa 6th, Will Sullivan 12th, Cormac McKenna 16th and Nick Mullane 22nd.
On Wednesday the cross country team ran at Windsor Locks in a tri-meet along with Tolland. There were 32 boys and 3 girls in the race. The boys beat Windsor Locks 19 to 37 and lost to Tolland 15 to 66. The top 5 runners for St. Timothy were Connor Krikawa 7th, Dan Lusardi 10th, Will Sullivan 13th, Cormac McKenna 16th, and Nick Mullane 24th. The girls beat Windsor Locks 15 to 86 and lost to Tolland 18 to 53. The top five tigers were Sarah Gillespie 3rd, Molly Deneen 11th, Taylor Selig 12th, Katherine Schwartz 13th and Rose O'Brien 14th.
On Saturday, October 6th the cross country team ran in the Wickham Invitational in Manchester. The race was run on a very hilly course and in very hot weather conditions. All of the runners ran and excellent race in these conditions. There were 144 144 boys. St. Timothy boys were Brian Poirier, Dan Lusardi,Cormac McKenna, Nick Mullane and Michael Varney. Brian and Dan both finished in the top 50 and received medals. The were 156 in the girls race. Our girls were Sarah Gillespie, Taylor Selig, Katherine Schwartz, Kara Hearn,Kelly Weiss, Kathleen Connelly, Julia Levere, Mary Kate Danaher,, Rachel Poirier, and Mary Deneen. Sarah finished held off another runner on the final hill and finished first. This is an amazing accomplishment in a field of 156 runners.
On October 10th the cross country team ran at Trinity College. Many personal records were broken on a flat, fast 2 mile course on the Trinity College campus. The meet, hosted by Hartford Magnet M.S., also included St. Mary Simsbury,Hartford Classical and Classical Prep. In his 5 team race the tiger boys placed 2nd,3rd,4th,14th and 18th for 41 points. finishing first was Hartford Magnet with 31 points, third was St. Mary with 55 points. Classical and Capitol only had 4 and 3 scoring runners and did not place in the meet. T here were 43 runners in the boys race. The girls race was again paced by Sarah Gillespie's first place finish. Molly Deneen was 5th, Kelly Weiss was 6th, Katherine Schwartz 7th, Taylor Selig 8th. The girls beat all three scoring teams. Final score. St. Timothy 27, St. Mary 49, Hartford Magnet 75 and Classical Magnet185. There were 51 runners in the girls race. Sarah Gillespie started out strong and never looked back,finishing 41 seconds ahead of the top Htfd Magnet runner. Sarah also beat her personal best running just over 6 minute miles! Molly, Kelly, Katherine, and Taylor also posted personal bests improving their 2 mile times by at least 1 minute!. The top 5 finishers for the boys were Brian Poirier 11:49, Dan Lusardi 12:23, Connor Krikawa 12:43, Will Sullivan 14:15, and Cormac McKenna 14:44. Brian ran neck and neck the entire race with the top Hartford Magnet and after an exciting 50 yard last sprint finished second by only an inch. Brian ran sub 6 minute miles. There were many exciting finishes, including Katie Beaulle's and Mary Kate Danaher's. Congratulations to the following runners who posted personal best times in this meet. Emma Deneen, Rose O'Brien, Bridget Pepin, Rachel Poirier, Kara Hearn, Kathleen Connelly, Katie Beaule, Mary Deneen, Julia Levere, and Michael Varney. Rachel Bercowetz, Katie Cash and Simone Smith each improved their best 2 mile time by over 2 minutes.
On Tuesday, October 16th the cross country team ran against Illing. The girls lost by a score of 19 to 39. It was a two mile course. STMS finishers and times were Sarah Gillespie 2nd 12:38, Taylor Selig 7th 14:38, Kara Hearn 9th 14:58 Molly Deneen 10th 15:00, Katherine Schwartz 11th 15:02, Bridget Pepin 12th 15:07, Emma Deneen 13th 15:15, Kelly Weiss 17th 15:34, Mary Kate Danaher 18th 15:35, Grace Deneen 19th 16:18, Rachel Poirier 20th 16:26, Katie Beaule 22nd 17:13, Julia Levere 23rd 17:13, Mary Deneen 24th 17:59, Katie Cash 27th 20:06, Rachel Bercowetz 28th 24:27 and Simone Smith 29th 24:33. The boys lost 22 to 54 St Timothy runners were, Brian Poirier 2nd 12:27, Connor Krikawa 4th 12:31, Dan Lusardi 9th 13:03, Cormac McKenna 16:37, Nick Mullane 23rd 21:39 and Michael Varney 24th 21:51.
In the rain on Friday the cross country team ran against Kingswood. This was our first meet in the rain and the team ran well staying focused throughout the race. The girls won 18-58 The top 5 STMS runners were Sarah Gillespie 1st, Kelly Weiss 2nd, Molly Deneen 4th, Kara Hearn 5th and Rose O'Brien 6th. The boys won as Kingswood had only 4 runners but Brian Poirier and Connor Krikawa were first and second. Rounding out St. Timothy's top 5 were Cormac McKenna Will Sullivan and Nick Mullane.
On Tuesday the cross country team had their most convincing win of the season against Windsor Locks. e boys and girls team both took the top 5 scoring places and remarkable the girls team took the top 15 places, something that rarely happens in cross country. The top 15 girls were Sarah, Molly, Kara, Rose, Kelly, Bridget, Taylor, Katheryn, Mary Kate, Grace, Emma, Rachel P. and Julia. The top 5 boys were Brian, Connor, Dan, Will, and cormac. The girls score was STMS 15 Windsor Locks 92. The boys score STMS 15 Windsor Locks 46.

GAME BY GAME
On Tuesday, September, 25th the girls soccer team opened their season with a stirring come from behind 3-3 tie with Windsor Locks. St. Timothy scored three quick goals in the second half. Two of those goals were scored by Kathleen McCormack and Caroline Moran. Anya Omichinski had a good game in goal making several excellent saves.
The girl's second game of the season was against a veteran Illing team. The team played very hard and gave everything it had but lost 3-0. Caroline Moran did a fine job in the second half covering #13,their top player. Anya Omichinski played a strong game in goal and Colleen Riley played her usual excellent game at sweeper stopping several other Illing scoring chances.
On Tuesday October 2nd, the girls team played St. Joe of Bristol. A slow start left the score at halftime 0-0. In the second half the girls came out much stronger. Rachel Duncan scored back to back goals, both assisted by Grace Hallinan. Colleen Riley later scored an unassisted goal. Goalies Anya Omichinski and Kathleen McCormack played well.
On Wednesday, October 3rd the girl's soccer team played Pope John Paul of New Britain. The team came out strong scoring 4 first half goals. In the second half the girls continued to dominate and scored 2 more goals. Kathleen McCormack scored 3 times and other goals were scored by Bridget Begley, Samantha Calitri and Jackie Klingman. Rachel Duncan, Cathleen Collins and Catrin Kiley had assists. The final score was 6-0.
On Thursday, October 11th the girl's soccer team played Windsor Locks for the second time this season. After a 3-3 tie in the first game we knew Windsor Locks would be ready for this game. St. Timothy dominated much of the game and played hard in both halves. Kathleen McCormack had the hat trick and Rachel Duncan also scored with the final score being 4-2 St. Timothy. Anya Omichinski was outstanding in goal.
On October 16th the girls lost a hard fought game to Illing 1 to 0. The tiger defense did a great job limiting the number of Illing shots but the offense could not capitalize in on their scoring chances.
On Monday, October 22nd the girls soccer team played Pope John Paul. Samantha Calitri scored a goal in the first half assisted by Anya Omichinski. Kathleen McCormack scored in the 2nd half making the final score 2 to 0 Kathleen and Logan Lawson split time in goal and combined for the shutout.
On Tuesday October 24th the girls soccer team played a very strong Renbrook team losing 2-0. Anya had 12 saves in goal for the tigers.
